Change a light bulb or light fixture today and you can save money every day. The Consumers Energy Multifamily Prescriptive Program is a great opportunity to help multifamily property owners and tenants improve the energy efficiency of their buildings. The program also helps add value to your investment while reducing utility bills and saving money on strategic facility upgrades.
The program helps identify cost-effective energy improvements, and helps offset the upfront cost by providing incentives. Eligible locations receive an energy assessment of common area lighting and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
The following rules cover customer eligibility for the Multifamily Prescriptive Program:
•Eligible properties must be billed at the multifamily or residential rate in the State of Michigan.
•For building common areas that are on a commercial rate, you may contact your Energy Advisor (Mike Whitman:
mwhitman@franklinenergy.com) or the Consumers Energy Commercial and Industrial Program at 1-877-607-0737 to learn more about the Energy Efficiency Program for Commercial Customers.
•The program is applicable to multifamily properties served by Consumers Energy in the State of Michigan. Properties must consist of five or more units per building.
•Qualified measures must be installed at facilities served by Consumers Energy (Michigan), and projects must result in better energy efficiency.
•Equipment must meet specifications cited in the program application.
•For each site, there must be at least one account that is on an eligible rate schedule.
Qualified Measures:
As an ENERGY STAR Partner, Green Electrical Supply is committed to supplying a wide range of energy efficient lighting options. The Consumers Energy Multi-Family Prescriptive Program offers rebate incentives for ENERGY STAR Qualified Compact Fluorescent Lamps - CFLs - (Click here to see
ENERGY STAR Qualified CFLs), complete new hardwired Compact Fluorescent Fixtures, replacement of high bay HID fixtures with new T8 or T5 Fluorescent fixtures, Permanent T12 lamp removal (contact us for more information), replacing or retrofitting incandescent exit signs with electroluminescent, T1 or LED exit signs, installing occupancy sensors in common areas such as hallways, lobbies, washrooms or stairwells (contact us for more information) and replacing indoor and/or outdoor garage or safety lighting (replace high pressure sodium or metal halide technology) with LED or Induction fixtures (Click here to see
LED Wall Packs or Garage Light Fixtures).
Pre-notification:
As a Consumers Energy Trade Ally, Green Electrical Supply will not only arrange an energy assessment at your property, but, we will also fill out all the necessary rebate application forms. The Pre-notification applications are strongly encouraged for all projects and are required for some. The Pre-notification informs Consumers Energy of the items you will be installing or upgrading. Consumers Energy will review your project’s eligibility and reserve program funds, but a reservation does not guarantee an incentive. Incentives will be calculated based on final applications (a form that Green Electrical Supply will also fill out for you). Project funds will be reserved for 90 days. If your project will take longer, you will need to tell Consumers Energy when you submit your Pre-notification.
Application Submission and Incentive Payments:
Final applications must include project documentation, such as copies of dated invoices for purchase and installation of equipment and/or product specification sheets. Invoices should provide enough detail to separate the project cost from the cost of other services, such as repairs and building code compliance, and show the location where the measures were installed. Consumers Energy reserves the right to request additional documentation to support product eligibility and verify expected energy savings.
After all project information is received, the Consumers Energy program team will confirm the project meets program requirements, perform necessary inspections, and/or perform technical reviews. The team will send incentive checks four to six weeks after project approval.
