Occupancy sensors automatically turn lights ON when the sensor detects the presence of a person and will automatically turn OFF when no presence is detected for a specified amount of time (determined and preset by you). These occupancy sensors are great for rooms that are often entered while carrying things or where the switch location may be inconvenient. Laundry rooms, storage rooms and garages are just a couple of application examples.
Vacancy sensors require someone to manually turn ON the lights when required. The sensor will then automatically turn lights OFF when no presence is detected for a specified amount of time (again determined and preset by you). These sensors ensure the highest level of energy savings since the lights will never automatically turn ON. Vacancy sensors also meet residential requirements for California Title 24.
Lutron® Radio Powr SavrT occupancy/vacancy sensors are wireless, battery-powered passive infrared (PIR) sensors that automatically control lights via RF communication to compatible dimming and switching devices. These sensors detect the heat from people (IR radiation of 9.5 m) moving within an area to determine when the space is occupied. The sensors then wirelessly transmit the appropriate commands to the associated dimming and switching devices to turn the lights on or off automatically.
They combine both convenience and exceptional energy savings potential along with ease of installation. Lutron's wireless dimmers and switches use their patented Clear Connect® RF Technology, which enables wireless communication with Radio Powr Savr sensors and Pico® wireless controls for light control and general switched loads. NOTE: For the system to function properly, you MUST incorporate at least one Transmitting device (a Lutron wireless occupancy sensor or PICO wireless control) and at least one Receiving device (a Lutron wireless Dimmer, Switch or Plug-In module). Click here to see more Wireless Dimmers, Wireless Switches and Wireless Occupancy Sensors.
Lutron's wireless solution provides dimming and/or switching of multiple load types, occupancy/vacancy sensing, daylight harvesting, and high-end trim. Lutron's patented Clear Connect® RF Technology works through walls and floors. The receiving controls incorporate advanced features such as fade ON/fade OFF, high-end trim, and rapid full-ON. The controls include Front Accessible Service Switch (FASSTM) for safe lamp replacement and feature Power failure memory: If power is interrupted, the control will return to its previously set level prior to interruption. Two-wire dimmers and switches are available for retrofit applications.
This item is the Lutron LRF2-OCR2B-P-WH ceiling mount wireless occupancy sensor. It is FCC Certified, IC Certified and meets US and CA Energy Commission Title 24 requirements. This is a battery operated wireless occupancy sensor. As noted above, the LRF2-OCR2B-P-WH is a Transmitting device. The LRF2 wireless sensors communicate with the Lutron wireless controls and other Radio Power SavrTM sensors through radio frequency (RF). Controls always operate locally and do not require system control. Local load controls must be located within 60 ft (18 m) line-of-sight or 30 ft (9 m) through walls. Click here for a pdf of the Lutron Ceiling Mount Wireless Occupancy Sensor Specification Sheet.
The Lutron LRF2-OCR2B-P-WH ceiling mount wireless occupancy sensor has 3 settings available: Auto-On/Auto-Off, Auto-On Low Light/Auto-Off and Manual-On/Auto-Off. The Auto-On Low-Light feature will only turn lights on automatically if there is less than approximately 10 Lux (1 footcandle) of ambient light. This sensor supports advanced occupancy features such as dependent occupancy groups and customizable occupied/unoccupied presets in some systems. This occupancy sensor measures 3.57" in diameter by 1.13" deep.
Multiple sensors can be added for extended coverage - please refer to the product specification submittal of the receiving device to determine system limits. There are front accessible test buttons that make your programming easy and the lens illuminates during the test mode to verify ideal locations. Also, for installation flexibility, multiple ceiling mount methods are available for different ceiling materials. Click here to see complete Lutron Wireless Occupancy Sensor Brochure.
