A commercial building's emergency and exit light requirements mandate active lights in egress exit routes. Emergency light fixtures automatically switch on when power goes out to illuminate pathways toward egress exits. The Universal 20W Emergency LED Driver for highbay applications (ELD20UNVL) works in conjunction with an AC LED driver that has an output current not to exceed 5.0A for LV, and 2.0A for MV and HV units. When AC power fails, the driver immediately switches to the emergency mode, operating the LEDs at a reduced lumen output. The ELD20UNVL can deliver up to 20 watts to an LED load for 90 minutes. When AC power is restored, the emergency driver automatically returns to the charging mode. It takes 24 hours for the battery to completely recharge. If used in an emergency-only fixture, then no AC driver is necessary.
The ELD20UNVL does not affect normal fixture operation and may be used with either a switched or unswitched fixture. If a switched fixture is used, an unswitched hot lead must be connected to the emergency driver. The emergency driver must be fed from the same branch circuit as the AC driver. Installation is not recommended with fixtures where the ambient temperature may fall below 0°C. The product is suitable for indoor and damp locations. An illuminated test switch to monitor the charger and battery, as well as installation hardware will be included. These LED drivers carry a 5 year limited warranty.
