The DGD LED Downlight Gimbal Series offers a line of gimbal downlights that simplify installing tailored lighting in challenging locations. The high performing light engine with off-board driver allows for more flexible installations and increased lifetime with improved thermal management. The DGD fixture uses a plenum-rated cable connector to link the downlight module to the remote driver box and then pops into place with its adjustable, spring-loaded retention tabs for a secure fit, eliminating the need for a J-box or recessed housing. Adding directional lighting for architectural accent in areas such as living rooms, hallways, stairways and corridors is now easier than ever.

Built for durability and performance, the fixture features a cast aluminum trim that routes heat away from electrical components, along with adjustable spring-loaded retention tabs that ensure a secure fit. It is certified for direct contact with insulation, making it suitable for a wide range of ceiling installations.
The optical system uses a dual emitter array on selectable models, enabling CCT selection across all five color temperatures. The COB light source delivers greater than 90 CRI with an R9 greater than 50, while a TIR optic provides smooth, uniform light output at a 45° beam angle. The gimbal head offers 32° of tilt with 360° rotation for precise directional control.
Electrically, the fixture operates at 120VAC, 60Hz with a CCT selection switch located on the driver. The off-board driver minimizes installation height and extends fixture life through improved thermal management. It is dimmable to less than 10% with compatible TRIAC dimmers and carries an operating temperature rating of -4°F to 104°F (-20°C to 40°C), with a rated lifetime of greater than 54,000 hours.
Installation is straightforward thanks to spring-loaded retention arms that fit into ceilings up to 5/8" thick. The off-board driver and junction box includes three 1/2" knockouts and three-port poke-in connectors. Extension power cables and rough-in templates are available separately for added flexibility.
The DGD series carries a comprehensive set of certifications: cETLus 1598 Classified for wet locations, ENERGY STAR listed, CA Title 24 compliant (JA8), IC-Rated for direct contact with insulation, and compliant with NFPA® 70, NEC® Section 410.16 (A)(3) and 410.16 (C)(5) for closet use. It is RoHS Compliant, free from harmful and hazardous materials, and meets FCC Part 15, Subpart B, Class B standards for conducted and radiated emissions. LM-79 and LM-80 testing was performed in accordance with IESNA standards, with LED lumen maintenance rated at L70(9k) > 54,000 hours.
The fixture is backed by a 5-year limited system warranty. Note that the warranty does not cover product failure due to overvoltage events such as power surges. For installations where power surges are possible, Nicor recommends installing additional surge protection at the electrical distribution panel.
Photometric performance varies by color temperature: lumens output is 784/845/937/994/1044, wattage is 11.36/11.31/11.14/11.16/11.55, and efficacy (LPW) is 69.0/74.7/84.1/89.1/90.4 across the 2700K through 5000K range respectively.
Compatible accessories sold separately include a 10' Extension Cable (RELS-EXTCABLE-10) and a 3", 4", and 6" Rough In Flat Template (ROUGHIN-TEMPLATE-346).
